Violinist Laufey Sigurðardóttir and harpist Elísabet Waage will bring their instruments to retirement homes and hospitals to play composer Tryggvi M. Baldvinsson's brand new arrangements of beloved folk tunes and melodies. There will also be one free public performance at the Festval Hub.Music belongs everywhere and provides us with much-needed nourishment for the soul in our everyday comings and goings. The Icelandic folk tunes that were once sung in the old farmhouses still bring us joy – both at home and away from home.
Violinist Laufey Sigurðardóttir and harpist Elísabet Waage have been performing together for years. They have given numerous concerts in Iceland and the Netherlands and have also recorded together. Many Icelandic composers have dedicated their work to them. In 2008 they performed at the World Harp Congress in Amsterdam. In 2012 they performed in Italy and in 2013 in Berlin.
