Something for all Performing Arts Enthusiasts!

Reykjavik Arts Festival offers an exciting selection of performing arts this summer: New writing, street theatre, experimental theatre, family shows, participatory work, dance and opera.

SAURUS
They are presumed to be extinct, nonetheless the biggest beasts that ever walked the earth return to the 21st century and to the streets of Reykjavik in this larger-than-life spectacle suitable for all ages.

ASPARFELL
You are invited to a real block party! The residents of Asparfell 2-12 invite festivalgoers to join them for a dance party in their homes. 

ATOMSTAR
The hybrid dance and visual art work, Atomstar, is an exploration of the human being.

BLESUGROF
Three playwrights will take you on an exciting journey through one of the city’s most remarkable areas, Blesugróf. 

BLUEBELLS BEFORE BED
Bluebells Before Bed is a new play which will be performed as an audio piece in a yurt in four different locations around the country. 

BROTHERS
Brothers, the Opera by Daniel Bjarnason is based on Susanne Bier’s award winning film of the same title.

EDDA
Robert Wilson is one of the most influential and progressive theatrical artists of the past few decades. Wilson’s productions are known for their spectacle and technical precision. It can safely be stated that this production is unlike anything that has ever been seen on an Icelandic stage.

LOCO AND KICKS: AN ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
Loco and Kick’s house is a complete mess when an unexpected electric guest shows up... A dance performance for the whole family

THE GREAT GATHERING
A dance performance in Eidistorg. A large group of adults and children dance together with buzz in their ears. Spinning round and round…

THE HELMET
Unique, vibrant and everchanging sound theatre for kids with music turning into text and text into music.

THE LOVER
The dancer’s body and it‘s environment keep transforming throughout this beautiful performance, which contemplates the complex relationship between humans and nature.

TRANSHUMANCE
Corpus takes you through a carefully studied, surrealistic overview of sheep behaviour. A fun non-verbal performance for the whole family.
